Featuring Communications Expert Ilana Lowery
Arizona Director, Common Sense Media
Ilana Lowery began her career as a reporter/editor for Pulitzer Newspapers, and a scriptwriter/producer for the NBC-TV affiliate in Chicago. Her move to Arizona brought her to Independent Newspapers Inc. as an editor and in 1995 Ilana became editor-in-chief for the Phoenix Business Journal. In 2018 she was inspired to shift gears and change the focus of her career becoming the first director of Common Sense, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families.
Ilana is an adjunct journalism professor at ASU, as well as serving Gabriel’s Angels, the Arizona Foundation for Women, Central Phoenix Women, the Alliance of Arizona nonprofits, the Arizona DoE’s Technology Task Force and the Arizona Broadband Stakeholder Network.
