Description

MY FURRY VALENTINE: Saturday, February 15, 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Arizona Small Dog Rescue, a 501c3 non-profit Valley rescue, brings its popular north Phoenix adoption event to Scottsdale’s beautiful Chapparal Park for a special Valentine’s weekend adoption event!  Mingle with staff, fosters and volunteers on hand to answer questions and help you meet your new best friend from a large selection of dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds.  This event will include puppies, a variety of young shelter dogs and members of the rescue’s Lonely Hearts Club for dogs that by no fault of their own have taken longer to adopt.  Adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, a free vet visit and 30 days of pet insurance. Dogs will also go home with fantastic gear (collars, harnesses and leashes) provided by Max and Neo, a local company that donates to more than 3,400 rescues around the country.

Members of the public looking to adopt are encouraged to take part in the special SPEED DATING area where can see if there’s a love connection between their own pups and the one they are looking to adopt.  There will also be a Kissing Booth, the Udder Delights ice cream truck (with Pooches and Cream ice cream!), and a special Kids Corner where children can help create Valentine themed “dog art” to decorate the shelter!

Dr. Clive Wynne, a behavioral scientist and founder of The Canine Science Collaboratory at ASU will be on hand (with his dog, Xephos) for a special presentation and to sign copies of his new book, fittingly called, “Dog Is Love: Why and How Your Dog Loves You.”

The event will take place in the large grassy area in front of the Chaparral Park Aquatic Center, 5401 N. Hayden Rd, Scottsdale. Use the park entrance at Hayden and Jackrabbit.  For more information, visit azsmalldog.org or follow Arizona Small Dog Rescue on Facebook and Instagram! 602-944-2440.
