Description

Zumba for the Heart

Fabulous ladies, it’s a new year and the time has come to celebrate your new heart healthy goals for 2019. Did you know heart disease is the number one killer of women — just like men?

So why don’t we ever talk about it? Bring your sister, friend or co-worker to the first ever Zumba for the Heart event at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and find easy ways to give some TLC to your heart. This event will bring inspiration, motivation and improved health for a new and improved you!

What is Zumba? Zumba is an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music. The Zumba for the Heart routine is considered low to mid-impact aerobics for beginners to the advanced.

Why is It Important? “42.7 million women in the U.S. are living with heart disease right now. That’s compared to 2.9 million women who are living with breast cancer. Women need to know about their heart risk. Women with heart disease are underdiagnosed and undertreated.” — Martha Gulati, MD, MS
