FOUND:RE PHOENIX HOTEL ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY STUDIO EXHIBIT

Phoenix-Based Artist Presents Cutting Edge Works Using Tape.  Travis Ivey, a master artist trained in representative painting. Ivey’s exhibit will be unveiled on Friday, February 1 during an artist’s meet and greet from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that evening in conjunction with the downtown’s First Friday Art Walk. The exhibit will remain on display in the Studio Gallery through Thursday, February 28.
Featuring upwards of 20 pieces of his works, this exhibit is very much a return to Ivey’s roots in art — and what first inspired his creativity — tape. “When I was younger, I really wanted to bring something totally different to the world of art,” he says of his use of tape at the onset of his artistic career.
Since then, Ivey has received formal art education and has become a representational painter with pieces that depict iconic areas of Arizona as well as in his home state of Wyoming. However, his love of working in the mixed media of tape has not changed. “I wanted to use more colors and different types of tape for this show,” he adds. The pieces displayed at the FOUND:RE during the February exhibit range from abstract-minimalist to intricately detailed collages that mimic the way he uses colors when painting.
