WHO: Heard Museum, Arizona Science Center, Nunamta Yup’ik Eskimo Singers and Dancers, Yellowbird Indian Dancers
WHAT: An annual Phoenix tradition, Holidays at the Heard celebrates the spirit of the holidays and Indigenous cultures with five full days of live music, dance performances, artist demonstrations book readings, art activities, shopping and more. Visitors will have an opportunity to experience American Indian culture in a fun and festive setting.
Each day visitors can attend events where they will learn about weather and animals in the Arctic, watch performances by Yup’ik dancers, enjoy book readings and participate in hands-on activities in It’s Your Turn: Arctic Spirit, a gallery where kids can explore and learn about the current exhibition, Yua: Henri Matisse and the Inner Arctic Spirit.
Yua: Henri Matisse and the Inner Arctic Spirit runs through Feb. 3, 2019 and explores the surprising artistic and spiritual connection between the great 20th-century French modern master, Henri Matisse, and the Indigenous people of the Arctic.
