Description

For the ninth year in a row, the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix hosts Boys to Men, an annual festival promoting community-wide access to choral training and development for young male singers. Junior high and high school male singers from around the Valley will come together with male choruses from the Phoenix area for an afternoon of education and inspiration, followed by a concert consisting of performances by participating choruses and the mass choir of more than 250 singers.

This year’s Boys to Men concert will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4:30 p.m. at Central High School, 4525 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.

In addition to the Orpheus Male Chorus, other community groups participating at the 2018 Boys to Men are the men of A Cappella Syndicate, Phoenix Chorale, Phoenix Metropolitan Men’s Chorus and Valley Chamber Chorale. Schools participating are Apache Junction High School, Central High School, Chandler Preparatory Academy, Gilbert High School, Heritage Academy – Mesa, North Canyon High School, North High School, Phoenix Children’s Chorus and Pinnacle High School.

This year, Herbert Washington, Director of Choral Activities at Gilbert Christian School and Encore Director for Chandler Children’s Choir and J.J. Rafferty, Director of Choral Activities at Greenway High School, will join Dr. Carric Smolnik, Pianist and Assistant Conductor of Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, in leading the mass choir.
