SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Sep. 18, 2018) — The Scottsdale Gallery Association’s Gold Palette ArtWalks, themed monthly events that complement the organization’s weekly Thursday ArtWalks, are gearing up for the upcoming “Demonstrate! Artists Celebrating Scottsdale” event on Thursday, October 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

In addition to the galleries along Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School on Marshall Way to 5thAvenue welcoming guests to peruse their masterpieces, select galleries will be featuring dedicated artists’ demonstrations, meet and greets, live music and more. The event is a precursor to other Scottsdale celebrations throughout the month, including the Celebrate ’68 festival on October 13, honoring the 50thAnniversary of Scottsdale City Hall and Scottsdale Civic Center Library. Events taking place during the “Demonstrate! Artists Celebrating Scottsdale” ArtWalk include:

Legacy Gallery7178 E Main St.Featured artist Trevor Swanson will be onsite to demonstrate his artistic wildlife techniques. Swanson is the son of world-renowned wildlife artist Gary R. Swanson, and has continued his father’s legacy with his own appreciation for realism, detail and value systems essential to wildlife rendering.

Wilde Meyer Annex, Wilde Meyer Gallery (owl and war horse images attached)

Wilde Meyer will offer a reception with refreshments and a group show in addition to artists’ demonstrations by Sara Newton and Stephanie Paige. During their Sophisticated Style Show throughout October, The Wilde Meyer Gallery at 4142 N. Marshall Way will feature works by Karen Bezuidenhout, Peggy Judy, Michael Kessler and more with the overall theme being “The Wilde Ones.”

Paul Scott Gallery7103 E. Main St.Guests can enjoy two live demonstrations featuring Bulgarian-born Arizona resident Martin Dimitrov, known for his strong compositional eye and realism, and Tempe artist Spencer Simmons,an emerging realist and a strong watercolorist. A collection of small works by both artists that celebrate the local scenes of the City of Scottsdale will be on display as well.

Blink Gallery7077 E. Main St.Artist Ingrid Donaldson, who specializes in local wearable art, will be showcasing her jewelry patterning and stone-setting skills during the event.

The Signature Gallery7177 E. Main St.Featuring Arizona bronze artist Fred Ortiz whose works are inspired by the ancient cultures of the southwest including the Mimbres tribe dating back to 500 AD, and interprets their primitive designs with a contemporary appeal.

 

Carstens Fine Art Studio & Gallery

An Arizona resident for nearly 40 years, juried artist Sandra Ortega will be demonstrating her passion for pastels.

  • Klein Gallery7136 E. Main St.Guests can visit the Art Factory location, one block west of the Gallery, to meet Jim Klein and enjoy a live piano performance while Jim paints one of the bold and bright acrylic pieces for which he is known.

Xanadu Gallery 

7039 E. Main St., #101

Featured artist John Horejs will be demonstrating his oil landscape masterpieces, which he has been creating since he bought his first set of oil paints in 1973. His art showcases a blend of realism and impressionism using multiple techniques to achieve the end result.

The Gold Palette ArtWalk brings together the finest art in Scottsdale, including 28 galleries and two museums — Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. During the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s weekly Gold Palette ArtWalk, presented in partnership with the City of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Arts District offers free trolley and horse-drawn carriage rides to various restaurants, museums, galleries and more throughout Downtown Scottsdale. Free parking areas abound and valet service is offered.
