In conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day, Adelante Mami, a lifestyle movement that supports the next generation of Latina women, is holding its second annual conference “Querer Es Poder: The New Age Latina.”  

The conference explores important topical issues including what it’s like for Latinas to be stuck in the middle of a traditional culture with high expectations in an ever-changing modern world. Adelante Mami defines the “New Age Latina” as a woman who is trying to stay true to her culture and values, but is also more progressive and has greater opportunities than Latinas in the past.

“The goal of the conference is to leave motivated and inspired,” said DeDe Gamez, founder of Adelante Mami. “There is a new and distinct generation of Latinas who are doing amazing things in our community and we want to give them a platform.”

The celebration will be hosted by radio host and member of Adelante Mami, Priscilla Ornelas, from “Mathew & Priscilla In The Morning” on MIX 96.9. The event will feature inspiring keynote speakers, including BuzzFeed writer Maya Murillo, electric dance performances and a cocktail & shopping hour featuring local Latina vendors.

“I am grateful to be part of an organization that caters to the evolution of the Latina culture and is inclusive towards the community,” said Priscilla Ornelas, radio host on MIX 96.9.
