On Thursday, August 23, from 6 – 8 p.m., Carlson Creek Vineyard will be releasing their 2015 Syrah with a release party at their Scottsdale tasting room. Open to the public and free to attend, the evening will include one complimentary glass of the new vintage per person, along with complimentary light bites, live music and conversation with co-owner/winemaker Robert Carlson III.

Aged nine months in once-used American oak barrels, the 2015 Syrah ($34/bottle) features a nose of vanilla, black cherry and violet, which leads to notes of cherry cola and candied cherry. Ideal pairings would include venison, grilled or smoked meats, foie gras, mushrooms, black olive tapenade, chocolate truffles and a variety of cheeses (Aged Gouda, Appenzel, Beaufort, Gruyere and Parmesan).
