Description

 It's the most wonderful time of the year…in the City of Maricopa! The City is celebrating its fourth annual Merry Copa Holiday Festival at Copper Sky Regional Park on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the event, City of Maricopa Mayor Christian Price will lead a countdown to the official lighting of a dazzling Christmas tree blanketed limb-to-evergreen-limb in festive lights and decorations. The holly jolly community celebration will include plenty of family-friendly activities, arts and crafts, and food options. In addition, attendees will have the chance to:

Ø  Enjoy playing in the Snow Zone;

Ø  Lace up their skates and glide along on an artificial ice rink;

Ø  Get their hearts pumping with a one-mile Santa Run (which also offers a one-mile walk option);

Ø  Take part in holiday cookie and ornament decorating;

Ø  View finalist gingerbread houses;

Ø  Take pictures with Santa;

Ø  Enjoy a sleigh ride;

Ø  Listen to local community group performances; and

Ø  Let out some holiday energy in a bounce house.

This year, the City of Maricopa will also hold its second-annual Santa Run – a one-mile run which also offers a one-mile walk option. Every participant will receive a full Santa suit upon registration. The event is free, but entry into the Snow Zone (which includes access to the snow, ice rink, and bounce house) for children ages 3 and older is $5 (cash only) for an unlimited wristband. Cookie decorating, ornament decorating, and hot chocolate are $1 each. Sleigh rides are $5 each. Santa Run registration for ages 18 and older is $30, and $20 for ages 13 to 17. Registration includes a full Santa suit. Kids 12 and under can run for free (no registration required and no Santa suit included). Two dollars from each registration will be donated to the MPD Foundation, which provides education and resources in the fight against blood cancers.
