Meet emerging young artist, Joshua Louchheim who creates oil paintings that offer a unique mix of surrealism and landscape that are simply enchanting and whimsical.

His imagery transports his viewers to another place and time creating work that offers sense of familiarity and is reminiscent of the late Philip C. Curtis. Louchheim says "each painting tells a story, the story I envision may not be the same as the viewers and this is why I give each one a title that acts as a guideline for its true meaning". Combining the fantastic world within his head with that of the natural world allows him to create work that is both personal and emotive. Being a young artist Louchheim, continues to blossom as he seeks to learn from the past linking tradition with the contemporary.

Louchheim is a self-taught artist who has exhibited his artwork in various galleries in Arizona including Art One Gallery, the MonOrchid and most recently at the Herberger Theater Art Gallery, in addition to being collected nationally. His work has also been featured in several local publications including YabYum Music & Arts and LocalRevibe.

Next up for Louchheim is a solo exhibition From the Outside Looking In at the monOrchid featuring 20 oil paintings, which he has been preparing for over a year. From the Outside Looking In will be on display in Shade Gallery at the monOrchid from May 1st until May 31, 2015 and is located at 214 E. Roosevelt Street, Phoenix.
