Foodie news roundup for the week of July 17.

Known for its prime seafood, live jazz and modern speakeasy atmosphere, Eddie V’s (pictured) is hosting nightly specials featuring Champagne/sparkling wine pairings (starting at $12), seasonal oyster specials and live nightly music from the past century. Sparkling Sounds runs through July 30.

To celebrate National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, TEXAZ Grill is offering its Hot Fudge Sundae Shooter for only $1 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 25. 

Each month, ZuZu at Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale is pairing wines or spirits with a special four-course menu at its Monday Night Chef’s Table series. Enjoy conversation from Executive Chef Russell LaCasce and the special guest. For the special dinner on Monday, July 24, winemaker Mark Lyon of Eco Terreno Wines has chosen an incredible selection of white wines that are perfect for summer. Savor chilled oysters on the half shell, grilled asparagus, macadamia nut-crusted Alaskan halibut and blood orange posset paired with wines from Gassier, Cloudy Bay, Pascal Jolivet and Ferrari-Carano. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $68 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made at 480.376.2600.

Arriving in Arcadia (northwest corner of 40th Street and Indian School Road) on August 7 is Masterpiece Donuts & Coffee+. The new shop will serve up cooked-to-order cake doughnuts topped with your choice of premium icings, topping and drizzles, plus a full selection of world-class illy coffee beverages and more. Masterpiece will feature a warm, inviting gallery space that showcases works from local artists as well as nearby schools such as Christ Lutheran and Arcadia High School.

Arcadia’s CRUjiente Tacos is pleased to offer 10 percent off to all teachers with a valid ID. This discount includes 10 percent off on both food and beverage items including antojitos, crunchy tacos, street-style tacos, wine, beer and cocktails. The discount does not apply to specials or happy hour pricing.

Bluewater Grill’s Executive Chef Jamie Gallimore has teamed with European-turned-Napa Valley-winemaker Paul Johnson, co-founder of Smokescreen Wines, to create a four-course tasting menu pairing Bluewater’s famous sustainable seafood with the winery’s award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and red blends on July 25. The $65 menu includes halibut, wild salmon, smoked tuna carpaccio and more.

On July 22 and 23, Beckett’s Table and Southern Rail are letting guests celebrate Christmas early. At both restaurants, when guests purchase a $100 gift card, they will also receive a complimentary $25 gift card. The promotion will last from 10 a.m. to close at Southern Rail and from 5 p.m. to close at Beckett’s Table. (Gift cards are not interchangeable and will only be accepted at the restaurant where they were purchased.)

On Monday, July 24, Taco Guild in Phoenix will celebrate National Tequila Day. A special tequila tasting flight of three of Roger Clyne’s Mexican Moonshine tequilas will be offered for $15. The flight will be served in Mexican Moonshine shot glasses which guests will be able to keep. Plus, a new cocktail of sauvignon blanc, Mexican moonshine Blanco tequila macerated with strawberries and kiwi topped with Champagne has been created and will be served that night: a Strawberry Kiwi Blanco Sangria. Happy hour specials will be offered all day plus live music and a special taco of the day. Or celebrate with the newly added tequila flights at Blanco Tacos + Tequila. Choose from any of the seven varietals which will include three one-oz. pours of the Blanco, Reposado and Anejo. Also, join Blanco for happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m.and sip on an Oaxacan Shandy or a blended white peach and hibiscus margarita with Jose Cuervo Silver, white peach and hibiscus syrup. Plus, snacks start at just $2.50.
