Foundress Fridays: Meet Tiffany Zook, Owner and Founder of Holistic Home Pediatrics

Zook owns a concierge home-visit pediatric practice that serves the greater Phoenix, Scottsdale, and East Valley suburbs.

After years of working within the traditional medical establishment, spending much of her time fighting the system to provide quality care that families deserve, she stepped away to create a practice that honors families through providing family-centered, personalized care in the comfort of their own home.

At Holistic Home Pediatrics, families can choose an all-inclusive direct primary care membership or pay per visit, and for newborns, the practice offers a fourth-trimester plan that is all-inclusive for the first three months of the baby’s life. The practice provides care that considers the mind, body, and spirit and seeks to partner with families to help children grow, develop and thrive.

AZF: What is your “life motto”?

Love and serve God, honor your family, and do what lights up your spirit while staying true to that calling.

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path for you?

No, not at all. The thought of starting my own business was always something that seemed attractive, but that was way too overwhelming to consider.

When I found myself in the middle of the effects of COVID on healthcare, drowning in the career that I had chosen and was my true love and calling, I was faced with the decision to either stop doing it and pivot to a totally different career path, OR to figure out a way to do it differently. Being in that moment with my spirit and health suffering, I found myself ready to take the leap. So glad I did!

AZF: How do you feel best supported?

I feel best supported when I have like-minded people who understand and see my mission and vision alongside me. When I surround myself with others committed to putting families first and leading with faith. I would be lost without my fellow women entrepreneurs in the pediatric and maternal child care space. We pray for one another, and we support and challenge one another as we strive to make our spheres of influence better.

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?

The children and families I take are of! Hanging out with babies, toddlers, and older children is truly the best part of what I do, and they never fail to remind me how important my work is. On the flip side, having families come to me who have been passed over or not listened to because there simply isn’t enough time or space to do so in the traditional 10-15-minute visit model fuels my fire to provide a better model for families.

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.

Strolling the farmer’s market on a 60-70-degree morning with my dog Scout in tow, while sipping a fabulous cup of coffee, followed by time in my garden and a good University of Kansas football or basketball game.

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?

Just do it! Cast your vision, become laser-focused on creating it, and just keep taking steps forward. You will figure out the details as you go.

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?

While taking the leap was full of uncertainty, I love that I get to create and curate a new (but really old-school) model of care that considers both the provider and the patient. Being my own boss allows me the space and creativity to think outside of the traditional medical box and into the paradigm of what would help families not only survive but thrive.

Additionally, I can think in broader, larger contexts, such as what it would look like to train other nurse practitioners to start their own home-visit practices. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, I wouldn’t have fathomed thinking on such a large scale.
