Originally rescued as an injured stray back in December of last year, this handsome senior is hoping he can find a true forever home where he can relax with his favorite people. When first at the shelter, Reese was treated in the Arizona Humane Society’s trauma hospital for some wounds prior to being fully healed and eventually adopted.

Unfortunately, this sweet boy has found himself back in the care of AHS after his previous owner fell ill and was no longer able to care for him. A volunteer and staff favorite, everyone who knows Reese says he is an extremely social and loving pup who has a big heart and goofy spirit.

Reese is not only good looks, the seven-year-young pup also likes showing off his smarts by doing tricks in exchange for yummy treats. Always seeking attention from his human friends, this cutie also enjoys a great play session before taking a tiger snooze on the couch.

As a part of AHS’ ongoing Big Dog Adoption Special, Reese has a $0 adoption fee to help him find his perfect forever home. Reese’s waived adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, and a follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. Visit this handsome pup at the Arizona Humane Society's Papago Park Campus or learn more at azhumane.org/adopt to give him the loving forever home he deserves.

Payson is a four-year-old pittie has a truly remarkable story. This sweet girl entered the Arizona Humane Society’s care in 2021 as a puppy and bravely fought the deadly Parvovirus before finding a loving home.

In a beautiful act of foresight and love, Payson’s owner made a point to enroll her in the Arizona Humane Society’s Continuing Care program, entrusting the shelter to step in and find a new home for the pup should she outlive her or in the event she was unable to keep Payson due to medical incapacity. It is with deep sadness to share that day has come, as Payson’s owner is now facing serious health challenges and is no longer able to care for her beloved companion.

Payson is gentle, goofy and deeply affectionate – always happiest curled up beside her people or soaking up the sun nearby. She does have manageable allergies but she is otherwise thriving and looking forward to living out the rest of her life with a loving family.

Payson’s adoption fee includes her spay surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, and a follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. Visit this gorgeous girl at the Arizona Humane Society's Papago Park Campus or learn more at azhumane.org/adopt to give her the loving forever home she deserves.

Arizona Humane Society in Critical Need of Fosters for Tiniest Patients

As the cutest (and busiest) time of the year is already here, the Arizona Humane Society encourages the community to show the love as it gears up for the arrival of its tiniest patients – orphaned kittens! The state’s leading animal welfare organization is calling on the community to help save thousands of its most fragile patients by becoming a Foster Hero at azhumane.org/Foster.

Last year, the Arizona Humane Society cared for almost 2,300 kittens ranging from just a few days to a few weeks old in its Bottle Baby Kitten ICU. Without their mother to care for them, many of these kittens have nowhere else to turn to and require 24-hour care from Arizona Humane Society staff and volunteers until they are old enough to start eating on their own and gain enough weight prior to finding their forever homes.

Due to the state’s unique climate, kitten season in the Valley is much longer than other parts of the country and runs from approximately mid-March to the end of November. As the Arizona Humane Society continues to face capacity challenges, the elongated kitten season will be a contributing factor to the estimated 27,000 sick, injured and abused pets that will need lifesaving care in the shelter’s trauma hospital and specialized ICUs this year alone.

In addition to fosters, the Arizona Humane Society is always in need of supplies to help provide care for its most fragile patients. To learn more or to donate to the Shelter Wish List, visit azhumane.org/WishList. For more information and to apply to become a Foster Hero for kittens or other pets in need, visit azhumane.org/Foster.

At 12 years young, Roxy Heart never imagined she would find herself in a shelter environment. Earlier this month, the gorgeous German Shepherd ended up in the care of the Arizona Humane Society due to her previous family no longer being able to care for her due to a member of the household developing allergies.

Although she is a bit confused and stressed in the shelter, Roxy Heart has continued to show what a sweet girl she is with everyone she meets. An avid lover of car rides and going on walks, the adorable pup is a huge fan of booty scratches and has no hesitation diving her face into people’s legs to get more pets!

Roxy Heart is not just beauty but also brains! The senior girl is extremely smart and loves showing off her ability to sit and shake – with a little treat as a reward, of course. Having lived with small children, babies, an adult cat and a guinea pig, Roxy would make an excellent addition to any home who is lucky enough to welcome her in.

As a part of AHS’ ongoing Big Dog Adoption Special, Roxy Heart has a $0 adoption fee thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Roxy’s waived adoption fee includes her spay surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, and a follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. Visit this gorgeous girl at the Arizona Humane Society's Sunnyslope Campus or learn more at azhumane.org/adopt to give her the loving forever home she deserves.
