Phoenix Art Museum Debuts On-Site Eatery, Alden, in October

On October 1, 2025, Phoenix Art Museum will unveil Alden, a 3,862-square-foot New American restaurant that fuses culinary expression with architectural legacy. Named in honor of Alden B. Dow, the visionary architect behind the museum’s original 1959 building, the restaurant is the latest project from CS Hospitality, a new group launched by the team behind Conceptually Social and led by Monica X. Castillo.

“We are thrilled about the opening date for Alden,” said Jeremy Mikolajczak, the Museum’s Sybil Harrington Director and CEO. “Inspired by the visionary spirit of Alden B. Dow, this restaurant invites guests to savor an artful culinary experience that echoes the creativity and innovation found throughout our campus.”

Alden overlooks the Dorrance Sculpture Garden, offering guests an inviting setting. Starting October 1, the eatery will open for indoor dining Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Full-service outdoor dining is set to launch in November.

The menu is rooted in modern American cuisine, infused with global influences and driven by the rhythm of seasonal ingredients. Shareable plates like hamachi crudo bring flavor-forward energy to the table, while salads range from a crisp fattoush to hearty greens. Sandwich offerings strike a balance between creativity and comfort, featuring items like the chicken katsu bun and a rich patty melt.

Entrées span from a squash risotto to classic steak frites. The dessert menu is anchored by a playful and nostalgic nod to Alden B. Dow’s favorite treat: a strawberry trifle that reimagines the classic shortcake. The dining experience is complemented by a full kids’ menu and a beverage program.

For CS Hospitality, Alden represents the evolution of their mission to create dining experiences that celebrate both design and community. Castillo, who brings decades of experience from roles at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, La Grande Orange Pizzeria, Chelsea’s Kitchen, and other notable establishments, has helped shape Alden’s culinary identity into something that feels fresh yet familiar.

Alden at Phoenix Art Museum invites guests to extend their cultural experience beyond the galleries and onto the plate. For menu details or to make a reservation, visit aldenphx.com.
