Phoenix is getting a taste of Indianapolis as Harry & Izzy’s prepares to open its first location outside Indiana. The modern American grill from Indianapolis-based Huse Culinary will make its Valley debut August 26, bringing signature steaks, seafood, cocktails and hospitality to Paradise Valley.
Located at the reimagined PV, the 8,300-square-foot restaurant is designed to be as much about the experience as the food. With seating for 340 guests, a 2,400-square-foot patio and an outdoor bar, Harry & Izzy’s offers room for everything from a leisurely lunch and weekend brunch to celebratory dinners.
At the center of the menu are steaks and seafood, along with shareable appetizers and cocktails. But one dish is likely to be especially familiar to fans of the restaurant group: the world-famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail, a signature of the legendary Indianapolis steakhouse that helped put Huse Culinary on the map.
“Opening Harry & Izzy’s in the Valley marks an exciting new chapter for our team and our restaurants,” said Craig Huse, CEO of Huse Culinary. “We’ve built our brands around exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and creating memorable experiences, and we’re honored to bring that tradition to Paradise Valley.”
While the restaurant may be new to Phoenix, Harry & Izzy’s has deep roots in Indianapolis. The name pays tribute to lifelong friends Harry Roth and Izzy Rosen, who owned and operated St. Elmo Steak House for 39 years, from 1947 to 1986. The duo became known for their food and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere where hospitality was just as important as what landed on the plate.
Harry & Izzy’s has also developed a particularly strong connection to Indianapolis sports history. Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning joined the brand’s ownership group, and he will also be a partner in the new Paradise Valley location. For those who like to make happy hour part of the occasion, the restaurant will offer a daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. Weekend brunch will also be available Saturdays and Sundays, adding another opportunity to experience the new restaurant beyond its dinner service.
