Foundress Fridays: Dr. Whitney Donohue of Quantum Body Optimization

Dr. Whitney Donohue, ND, PAK, is the founder and physician at Quantum Body Optimization.

“I am a Naturopathic Doctor, Professional Applied Kinesiologist and Lifestyle Medicine Expert,” says Dr. Donohue. “I help active people stay active by optimizing performance, preventing injury & eliminating pain!”

AZF: Tell us about your business!
Dr. Donohue: At Quantum Body Optimization, we do things differently. Being human is complicated but healing doesn’t always have to be. Our bodies are incredibly intelligent & obtain their own innate ability to heal themselves. Here, we take into consideration all aspects of being human, how they contribute to your pain, performance and healing journey.

We look at the physical, structural, emotional and chemical insults that can occur and by identifying these roadblocks and removing them, your body can restore balance and heal itself, as it was naturally designed to do. Restoration of the nervous system & releasing stress from the body exponentially increases the body’s ability to heal, getting you back to doing what you love, faster & more efficiently.

AZF: What is your “life motto”?
Dr. Donohue: Lean in. That’s where the magic is.

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path right for you?
Dr. Donohue: My parents are entrepreneurs and built a really successful business from the ground up, so it was definitely an option but never had my heart set on it. I think it really ended up choosing me. The rebel in me always liked to do things differently, more efficiently and in my own way, so ultimately I probably had no choice. But being a Naturopathic Doctor really drove that home because the options are limited. You work for someone else or you do it yourself and again, because I had a vision of how I knew I could best serve people and it didn’t fit in the boxes that were presented, I chose to do it myself! It has been the most challenging and deepest self-development journey I have been on so far but it’s evolved unlike anything I could have imagined!! It has been a really fun & the growth in both myself and my business has been life changing!

AZF: How do you feel best supported?
Dr. Donohue: The past year I have really leaned into mentors, like minded colleagues/ friends and amazing groups like The Foundress for ideas, support and growth! Having different perspectives and ideas from others is where the success is because it is so hard to see from the inside when you are in the thick of it. What you want and what you envision doesn’t always translate, so hearing different perspectives really allows things to come to life! Also, no matter what your goals are or your specific business is, the challenges are very much the same, so knowing that you aren’t alone in the journey and that other people are there to support you through the difficult times and celebrate you on your wins & vice versa, is a really great thing to have!

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst of the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
Dr. Donohue: Wow, some days are much more challenging than others for sure but right after the challenge usually comes a big win or great patient successes that reignite the fire and remind you of why you do the things you do! But usually just hearing the latest health trend or poor experiences people have when it comes to health and healing, because I know there is a better and different way and things must change! That usually ignites a pretty big fire and reminds me why I started all of this, so on the hard days, I know I’m on the right path and changing the way people view & most importantly experience health and healing, is my mission!!

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
Dr. Donohue: Sleep in a bit, get up and open the blinds, make a cup of tea and head outside barefoot to ground in the grass and soak in the sunshine! My bengal, Quest usually joins for sunshine and loves to play fetch! Then meditation, a walk and cold shower! After that anything that gets me outside or catching up with friends.

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
Dr. Donohue: Stay the course. Stay aligned with what you want to do and what your vision is even if no one else see’s it or believes it! Take advice with a grain of salt as in, take what resonates and leave the rest. But also be willing to allow it to evolve into what it is meant to be, don’t miss out on the magic by remaining rigid with one idea/path, let it and yourself evolve!

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?
Dr. Donohue: Simply doing it my own way! I’ve always had big visions that never fit in a box and certainly never anyone else’s, so I think I’ve always been meant to build things that way I envision them to be! That’s where the magic is in entrepreneurship! There’s no limitation as to what you can do, build or accomplish as long as you stay the course and stay aligned with what matters most to you! In doing so you are able to serve more people in more ways than ever before!
