Title: Advertising Photographer

Married/Single: single

City you live in: right in downtown Phoenix

A typical day in my life includes…

my days are always different as an advertising photographer. It varies between being on set all day, going to meetings, spending time at the studio, drafting conceptions, on-boarding clients, managing productions, retouching images and everything in between. But I try to have consistency everyday by going on walks with my dog and girlfriend.

I was born… In small house in Glendale, Arizona.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

it’s definitely the diverse landscape we have. Having the Rockies and Sonoran desert in one state provides a lot of photographic and adventure opportunities. Since I was a child who loved to fish and go camping with my family, the Mogollon rim has always held a special place in my heart.

I’m listening to…

Little Dragon.

My family…

have always supported me. I am forever grateful to have a family that did not put any biases on me and allowed me the freedom to explore creativity from childhood through adulthood. I’m sure having your kid tell you they failed out of college and want to pursue photography probably is not easy to hear, but they supported me all the same. We don’t get to pick our families, but we pick how we choose to love them. I have siblings with disabilities and kidney disease and our parents always put us first before themselves, I have known this to a great privilege in my life.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Missy Elliott.

One thing I cannot live without…

love. I live my life with a constant pursuit of love and compassion for people. With all of our inadequacies and differences we are all still on the planet together trying to make it work in our own way.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a professional motocross racer. I had a bike and raced from when I was a child until my early 20’s, until I had a bad crash and sold off my bike for a camera.

I’m inspired by…

our existence. Our interactions. Our desires. Our cultivations of skills.

The one person who motivates me is… Jordan Peterson

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

ensuring basic human rights.

The perfect day would be…

a day unencumbered by inequities or material pursuit. Surrounded by loved ones without a care of time or space.

My first job was…

a bag boy at Safeway.

My favorite escape…

good food, and camping.

My life…

has its ups and downs like everyone else. I have my own inadequacies, work in a tough industry and live in a world with a lot of disparity. But I make a living doing what I love, I have a great circle of friends and family and I have freedoms many don’t. Also my life is not complete. I feel obligated to create opportunities for others.

I’m currently working on…

I just wrapped up a project where I spent a few days in Tanzania, Africa with Chris Long and several other NFL players. Chris’s organization Waterboys fund the digging of wells for tribes and schools in Tanzania where they have unsanitary drinking conditions. I was honored to be apart of this project.

Always…

listen before you speak, put people first and live a life you are proud of.

Never…

neglect your problems.

Favorite Quote…

“Tomorrow comes today.”

Biggest Dream…

create opportunities for others on a large scale.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

narcissism, and people who take their shoes off on a plane.

More about Thomas…

I am an advertising photographer, visual director, writer, and educator born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I spent my life racing motocross, but hung up the helmet for a camera. I am captivated by the connections a camera and a story can create. I run the education department at Blok studio, where we hold photography related courses. I also co-founded a production company called Litebox, where we bridge the gap between creative assets and production.
