Those who appreciate sustainable living or are just looking for one-of-a-kind stay in the Colorado wilderness can now rent a TikTok-viral earthship on Airbnb.
Burrowed partially beneath the ground of the Black Forest hills in Colorado Springs, this organic home features the earth as its walls and beautiful interiors enhanced by natural lighting and the greenery of hanging plants throughout the home.
The 2,900-square-foot house is one of thousands of “earthships” across the U.S. created by architect Michael Reynolds in the 1970s that are built in the berm of the earth using natural and recycled materials.
Constructed in the 1990s, this modern Colorado earthship uses tires, glass bottles and straw to thermally insulate the house and regulate its temperature year-round, while a facade of large windows along the length of the house warm up the interiors with an abundance of natural light.
The off-grid eco-home is powered by solar panels and a backup propane generator and has its own water well and septic tank system. Smart tech systems and other luxuries have been added to the home, so that the comforts of modern living do not have to be sacrificed.
The earthship is owned by artist and interior designer Arianna Danielson, who shared a video of her unique home on TikTok that went viral with over 4.7 million views and 1 million likes to date. Behind the screen, the home’s unusual organic architecture can only be appreciated so much. The experience of living there and connecting with the surrounding nature is what makes the earthship so magical, according to Danielson’s posts on social media.
The earthship, which sleeps six plus a pet, is now available to enjoy for a minimum of two nights through Airbnb, starting at $250 per night. Book your stay here.
