London Fashion Week Turns 25

I heart London! Perhaps it was all the swanky 60’s movies of my childhood, pop and rock Gods on the Ed Sullivan show or the burgeoning of the punk era in the late 70’s but whatever the case I have always had a thing for British pop culture and fashion… and these days the food in London is nothing short of yummy….. forget the bangers and mash stuff you have always heard about.

London Fashion Week celebrates 25 years this season. In the mid-seventies Vivienne Westwood was the undisputed Queen of the Scene and there is still no shortage of those ultra cinched corsets and sky high platforms darling… but added to her royal court John Galliano and bad boy Alexander McQueen help provide the sparks that keep the Brits at the top of fashion’s lust list. Let’s not dismiss the ever chic Burberry Prorsum and creative director Christopher Bailey… the epitomy of classic and cool combined into one.

This season Julien MacDonald collection (be still my foolish heart) is loaded with sexy come hither biker touches to squeal for…should I win the lotto – hello Virgin Airlines first class seats take me straight to JM’s!

After that…how about those Preen party frocks that ring of – hello Paparazzi! moments. If you have the chance snag one of their shearling coats… hello lover… they are just too much….

…and I cannot leave out a mention on Mathew Williamson’s always bold and anything but wallflower pieces.

Let’s not forget a good fashionista goes nowhere without her accessories, Jimmy Choo …in the words of RZ “shut it down” with those studded biker boots, these in fact were the same boots that I dreamt about for one of my recent photo shoots and they had tragically already been snatched up by adoring fans… so keep your eye out this fall. But if you are not one of the lucky ones, the heeled Mulberry version will also send one swooning!

Erickson Beamon never let me down… yes loves, they had a life before Target… this year it’s medieval meets boho and I am checking my bank account right now…

Lastly I cannot leave out Anya Hindmarch bags… how can you resist style, quality and a little bit of humor to boot? Oh how many times I have tried to snag an Anya on ebay and failed…. Unlike others in my inner circle, I am not an ebay-er and it never ceases to amaze me that people actually have closets that I covet full of the auction site’s treasures.
Maybe this season it’s worth another try…cherrio loves!

  1. Oooo I love that first pink Preen dress. Most of the time with runway looks you really have to tone them down to make them normal, but this is totally wearable as is.
