As a newbie makeup artist cutting my teeth on model portfolio’s and acting headshots, nothing sent fear through my veins more than trying to keep my subjects looking fresh- as- a –daisy instead of a sopping- wilted- mess during outdoor shoots. Luckily those hours of hemming and hawing over the perfect summer formulas resulted in a killer list of fixes that are perfect for those days when you feel so hot, you think you might just be walking on the sun.
Tempting as it is after a late night or a day by the pool, don’t slack off on your daily skin care routine, the better the skin looks the less makeup you need…Gentle daily exfoliation with a soft cloth like Nufolia or Clarisonic skin brush will leave you and your pores feeling smooth and gunk free. Don’t forget you bod… it needs lovin too! Follow with sunscreen – always!
Ok lovely, put it out of your head… there is just no way to stay in tact if you slather on heavy foundation, so lighten up and switch to a tinted moisturizer with SPF, or mix a dab of foundation with moisturizer, follow with concealer only in the areas where you need it. Trust me, foundation and August do not mix! I love Becca Tinted Moisturizer because it comes in a zillion shades to match just about every skin color.

Powdering all day is so 1999! You’re shiny, you’re perspiring and then you swirl a bit-o-powder on your sponge HELLO…. Layers of dirt and grime locked in on contact. Time for some blotting tissue dollface… Use powder in the a.m. and pop the blotters in your Louis V to dab away latter day oil and grime without removing your makeup. Hair tends to take a black- belt beating in the summer months. Intensive heat, chlorine and excessive styling means dry damaged hair and faded color, to protect your lush locks use products with sunscreen and be sure to deep condition at least once a week. Phyto’s Protective Sun Veil provides a barrier to harsh environmental effects. In a pinch you can mix leave in conditioning spray with an oil-free sunscreen in an atomizer bottle and slick back hair into a chignon so it soaks up the goods.

GREAT TIPS! I only use tinted moisturizer, but still haven’t been able to find the perfect one. Laura Mercier is close, but not perfect, I am almost out and will look at Becca, I’ve never heard anything about it!
I hate to keep reapplying makeup, the matte blotting tissues area a god sent.
