Events: Arizona - Phoenix - Scottsdale

Most parking garages are anything but exciting or colorful but that is not the case in the Arts District! A large public parking garage is getting a makeover! Phoenix artist Kayla Newnam is painting a large mural on the outside wall and inviting the community to join her so they too can leave their creative mark on the iconic Roosevelt Row.

On Saturday, Aug. 3 the community is invite to grab a brush and join the painting party form 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Paint supplies, tents and refreshments will be provided. The parking garage is located at1026 N 1st Street (north side of the garage).

The intention behind the mural project is to break up the monotony of a typical parking garage by adding a sense of fun that matches what this neighborhood is all about.  Bringing an explosion of colors and patterns with a playful peacock as the centerpiece. The use of a colorful bird is meant to represent one of many voices in this “Bird City.” The peacock itself represents the ability to show your true colors while accepting chaos and embracing the vulnerability it takes to make sense of it all. The mural as a whole is meant to bring joy and inspire that new pep in your step as you conquer the rest of the day with positivity.
