I’ve always been somewhat of a firm believer that men are to watches like women are to shoes. Well, purses actually. They become obsessed with them, they can get ridiculously expensive but it’s O.K. to own several of them for all your different outfits. After all, it’d be silly not to admit men are a lot more limited in expressing their fashion sense than women are. Got your button-down and jeans? Check. Polo and jeans? Check. And yup, that’s about it. Other than a suit and swimshorts. All I’d consider acceptable anyway…
So one way to judge, and excuse me for using that adjective, perhaps better is differentiate or express style is by the watch a man wears. Whether it’s got a little, a lot or no bling it can be the standout piece to a man’s outfit.
When I can afford it, it’s the present of choice. And this Father’s Day, Torneau at Scottsdale Fashion Square is having a special to hopefully make that watch you’ve got your eye on a little more affordable. You’ll get $250 towards your purchase when you spend $1,000 on a watch at Torneau. The store has hundreds of different brands and styles sure to suit almost anybody’s taste. The offer is valid now through June 22nd, 2009, so it’s the perfect time to snatch one up for Father’s Day, a birthday, or any other future occasion you might have in mind.
You can get other accessories and women’s watches too at Torneau, but since we do leave the gents out often in the blog (sorry guys) I thought it’d be nice to focus on watches for men.
I believe I pulled this watch for a photo shoot once because of its totally unique and stunning features. Corum Golden Bridge 18-karat white gold watch with diamonds, $35,000.
A little bit less extravagant (as far as diamonds go, not price) is this Vacheron Constantin Malte Tonneau Day Date watch. The watch is available with a 35.6 mm 18-karat gold case. $25,200.
This Maurice Lacroix Lune Retrogade is pretty cool. It features a weekday indication, moon phase, retrograde date indication and a power reserve indication too. $8,900.
Also like this Maurice Lacroix Jours Retrograde watch. It features a black crocodile leather strap and sapphire crystal inlay in the dial. $8,100.
I’ve seen a few versions of this watch but it’s still pretty cool. And, in efforts to not post only black leather bracelet watches, I like option with a nice brown alligator strap. Baume & Mercier Classima Executives Skeleton Watch, $4,990.
