Buffables Café Opens in Tempe

Tempe’s healthy dining scene has a new addition with the opening of Buffables Café, a wellness-focused eatery that officially welcomed guests on June 27. Located on University Drive, the café was founded by brothers Craig and Grant Logan, who set out to create a destination where nutritious food is both genuinely wholesome and affordable enough to become part of an everyday routine.

The brothers built Buffables around a simple philosophy: healthy food should actually live up to its name. Their goal was to rethink what diners expect from health-focused cafés by selecting quality ingredients and eliminating many of the additives commonly found in foods marketed as nutritious.

“Healthy is not really healthy in many cases. The word is vague and can be misused easily for marketing purposes. My brother Grant and I have a passion for this, and we just want to make an affordable health food café that actually is healthy,” Craig Logan said. “We want people to be able to afford to come get coffee, matcha, acai bowls and other healthy food and drinks on a regular basis.”

The café’s name reflects its mission. “Buffables” means to polish or improve, an idea that carries through every aspect of the menu. From premium coffee roasted in small batches in Oregon to ceremonial-quality matcha sourced directly from a farm outside Tokyo, the brothers have focused on ingredients chosen for both quality and authenticity. Guests will also find pure unsweetened acai imported from Brazil, fresh-pressed organic juices and handcrafted toasts made with sourdough from Phoenix favorite Proof Bread.

Every offering is free from seed oils, fillers and refined sugar, allowing guests to enjoy smoothies, bowls, beverages and snacks made with simple, recognizable ingredients. The menu itself was developed with guidance from Chef Sandro Falbo, executive chef of the Kimpton Mas Olas Resort, where farm-to-table cooking is central to the guest experience.

Before launching Buffables, Craig served as regional marketing director for Boeing Business Jets at The Boeing Company in Seattle, while Grant worked in management and strategy for Humans Matter in New York City. Together, they’ve combined their business experience with their shared interest in nutrition to create a café designed around quality, transparency and accessibility. Learn more: buffables.com.
