LOEWE announced the opening of its brand new store location in Scottsdale on August 19. Set beside the desert lights of the Sonoran landscape, LOEWE has something for everyone: men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, bags, small leather goods, shoes, eyewear, belts, hats and caps, and home scents.
The store brings a little bit of everything from the full LOEWE collection to the affluent hub at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Design cues were drawn from the Arizona terrain and shaped by the CASA LOEWE concept, reimagining shopping spaces as the dream home of an avid art collector.
Different areas of the interior have handcrafted ceramic tiles in green, light brown, and blue that pay homage to the desert sands, skies, and vegetation. John Allen, Rugs by textile graphic artist and designer, chose similar palettes with abstract landscape designs in shades of yellow, green, ochre and blue.
Shoppers can find furniture placed throughout the store, brought to life through the same idea.
A Utrecht armchair by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, martini tables from 1950s Spain, a Nakashima Mira chair, and a leather Puffer bench handcrafted in Spain are positioned throughout to set the tone and ambiance. Each piece has a story to add to your experience.
One thing that has shaped LOEWE’s approach to their retail spaces is cultural dialogue. In LOEWE Scottsdale, the house’s merchandise products are placed in dialogue with the art, craft and design pieces.
British artist Anthea Hamilton catches the eye with a spiral staircase to open the area and Indian painter, Mahesh Baliga’s London Zoo painting can be seen.
The sequence is closed with a ceramic piece by Ken Price capturing an artist mid-thought and a set of six glazed ceramic works featuring cats by South African artist Hylton Nel.
