One of the Valley’s most well-known modern Latin dining destinations has officially arrived in the East Valley, as The Mission opened its newest location at Epicenter at Agritopia. Helmed by acclaimed Chef and Partner Matt Carter, the new restaurant marks the brand’s third Valley outpost, introducing its signature ambiance, award-winning cuisine, and agave-forward cocktail program to Gilbert.

The new restaurant reflects the unmistakable character that has defined The Mission experience, blending dramatic design elements with warm hospitality. Guests are welcomed by rich wood accents, a Himalayan salt brick wall, and a layered interior that transitions from a lighter, enclosed front dining space to a darker, more intimate main dining room and bar reminiscent of the Old Town location.

The space, designed by architectural duo Mendil + Meyer, also features a bar with seating for 20, two high-top community tables ideal for group gatherings, and a private dining room accommodating up to 40 guests with full audiovisual capabilities for celebrations and business events.

The Mission’s celebrated culinary offerings remain, with guests able to enjoy daily house-made tortillas, the iconic tableside guacamole, and signature dishes including pozole and the roasted pork shoulder tacos for two. Weekend brunch plans are also in the works, with offerings such as the “Whole Roasted Pig Out” brunch feast expected to become a highlight. Over time, the culinary team will introduce additional menu items.

The beverage program will showcase The Mission’s renowned agave-focused approach, featuring a curated selection of tequila- and mezcal-driven cocktails, craft beverages, and an extensive wine list.

“We’re beyond thrilled to finally open our doors in the East Valley with our very first Gilbert location,” Chef Matt Carter said. “This has been a long time coming, and we’ve already felt an incredible amount of excitement and support from the community. We can’t wait to share The Mission experience with guests and create a space where people can come together and celebrate.”
The Mission Gilbert is now open daily for lunch and dinner, with hours running Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with weekend brunch expected to launch soon. Learn more at themissionaz.com.
