Savor the last few days of summer with a special Tuscan Winemaker Dinner at Scottsdale’s Sassi on Sept. 17, starting at 6:30 p.m. The five-course feast celebrates three Tuscany regions and its internationally-renowned wineries and winemakers, alongside a special dinner menu from Executive Chef Chris Nicosia designed to complement these wines.
SASSI’s Tuscan winemaker dinner menu features fresh and flavorful cheeses and main course entrees, in addition to our seafood antipasti. Dive in to the flavors of the evening with Spuntini Arancini of crispy saffron risotto balls, Mozzarella di Bufala, Vermentino Bolgheri, paired with a glass of Campo al Mare. Guests will then enjoy delectable seafood antipasti and wine from 2010, our Seared Diver Scallops. The seared diver scallops are accompanied by sweet corn, king oyster mushrooms and black garlic butter. This dish pairs perfectly with Chardonnay La Pietra.
The Primi course features handmade cavatelli in a spicy pork ragu, Pecorino and Rosso di Montalcino, washed down with a glass of a delightful Silvio Nardi 2009. The Secondo course will feature an exquisitely tender, braised beef short rib with wild mushroom and Gorgonzola budino. The wine options for this course are a 2009 Brunello di Montalcino and a 2006 single vineyard Brunello Manachiara, both from Silvio Nardi.
SASSI will also provide a Formaggi of pan-fried sharp provolone, poached figs and candied walnuts. The 2009 Il Borgo Cabreo elucidates the complex flavors of the evening. The Tuscany Winemaker Dinner will conclude with a parting gift of house made amaretti, an almond flavored macaroon.
Reception and seating begins at 6:30 p.m.; dinner is served beginning at 7 p.m. Reservations may be made at www.sassi.biz. (A credit card is required to confirm a reservation.) Tickets are $85 per person plus tax and service charge, which comes to $110 per guest.
