Now is the Best Time to Visit Arches National Park and Moab

Moab Adventure Center reports that its staff will offer small group, guided explorations of Arches National Park through November this year. Effective COVID protocols that have been in place since the spring will continue through 2020 and beyond as needed.

With river rafting operations wrapping up at the end of October, most of the tour operator’s small group and private adventures focus on Arches National Park this time of year, reports Cort Wright, General Manager of the Moab Adventure Center (www.moabadventurecenter.com/).

Arches National Park in the fall has many benefits: crowd sizes are smaller, families with children are again engaged with school, temperatures are more pleasant and the fall colors are amazing in Courthouse Wash and on the 13,000-foot La Sal mountains.

Most popular autumn park tours include:

  • Arches National Park Sunset Discovery at $89 per person is a four-hour program where participants enjoy famous Balanced Rock, Courthouse Towers, La Sal Mountains, Petrified Dunes, and Panorama Point as the setting sun paints the surrounding sandstone monoliths and La Sal Mountains spectacular shades of color.
  • Arches National Park Morning Adventure is another four-hour option by tour bus at $89 per person. Get up close to amazing arches and chasms while enjoying guided hikes to many of the best sights.
  • Arches National Park Air Tour glides over spectacular formations such as Courthouse Towers, North and South Window Arches, Delicate Arch, Devil’s Garden, the Colorado River, Fisher Towers, and Castle Valley. The per person rate is $109 for a 30-minute flight.

Tried-and-true practices that were instituted for guests and staff when COVID 19 first hit will continue throughout the fall. These measures include smaller groups, taking temperatures, conducting a questionnaire about health symptoms, requiring that guests and staff wear masks while in an enclosed vehicle, and requesting that every one social distance, among others.

These guidelines were met with appreciation and gratitude. Examples of this come from our reviews where guests expressed thanks for us having and adhering to our mitigation safety plan.

To accomplish this, excursion vehicles that normally hold 29 people now carry just 15. Its 10-person-capacity vans currently operate with just six passengers. Enhanced changes include how vehicles were cleaned after every use.

Although the protocols that reduced passenger loads also reduced revenues, down 20 percent from June 1 to mid-September, Wright anticipates the company will make up some of the losses with the extended season of activities in Arches National Park that matches people’s passion to get out into the fresh air and wilderness.

Wright underscores that the adventurous share one thing in common. They count on Nature to help them recharge and reach new personal highs and goals.
