Tutinis, King Tut and More at These L.A. Hotels

Add some shiny gold to your next Los Angeles vacation. Celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb, the California Science Center has debuted KING TUT: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh.

The exhibition is the first stop on its 10-city international tour. After the tour is finished, nearly half the items will go on permanent display at the Grand Egyptian Museum. So unless you plan on visiting Cairo, this is your last chance to check out some of the royal artifacts in person.

The exhibition, which is the largest assembly of artifacts and gold from Tutankhamun’s tomb ever on display outside of Egypt, features more than 150 real artifacts in nine distinct experiential galleries. Guests can experience 3D visuals, digital content, 360-degree theatrical manifestations, custom soundscapes, an audio-guided tour and more. Check out sweet things like the tomb Guardian statue, a colossal quartzite statue of the king, his golden shrine, ornate jewelry and bands that wound the mummy and more.

The exhibition will be on display in L.A. now through January 6, 2019.

“The occasion of the 100th anniversary of one of the greatest archeological discoveries in history inspired us to create an exhibition like none before. As millions of people around the world get the opportunity to see these ancient objects in an immersive and personal context, we know King Tut’s place in people’s imaginations will be secure for generations to come,” said John Norman, Managing Director, Exhibitions, IMG.
