How did you get started in the design/build industry? As I was in real estate school in 2012, I had an opportunity to manage remodels throughout the Valley. After a couple of years of doing this, I decided to seek out my own investors and enter upon the venture of spec building. Ever since I was a little boy, I’ve always been fascinated by the building process of a home. After completing my first spec build in Arcadia, I was hooked. I was smitten with the process of working with a team of subcontractors along with my architect, engineers, and interior designers to create beautiful luxury homes.

What is your favorite project in Arizona? This is a tough question as it is difficult to determine which one is a favorite. I mean, how do you pick your favorite child? You love them all the same. I put so much effort and passion into each project that it is easily my favorite…until I begin working on the next one. We just finished 6115 N. 38th Place in Paradise Valley. To say I’m infatuated with this project is an understatement. So for now, this one is my favorite. Oh wait, I just started another project next door. It is a soft contemporary 7,200-sq.-ft. luxury home in Paradise Valley. This one is now my favorite.

What inspires you and your work? I am motivated by God and my family to create an optimal product and strive for excellence. I want to not only lead by example for my children but also maintain and build my credible reputation amongst my peers in this industry.

What is something timeless every home should have? Every home should have a large kitchen and master bathroom. These two ultimately end up being major deciding factors when a buyer is making their purchasing decision. It is imperative that they are designed with the buyer in mind.

What is considered trendy in homes at this time? Barn wood, in general, has become trendy in recent years. We are using barn wood to create barn doors and accent walls. Additionally, oversized bi-fold doors are highly sought after. These provide the ability to marry the indoors and outdoors as when they are opened, it creates a more open concept for togetherness and entertaining.

What do you consider your biggest professional accomplishment? My biggest professional accomplishment happened when I completed and sold my first new construction build. At that moment, I knew I was destined for greater things and that was just the beginning for me.

What advice do you have for young people or students hoping to pursue a design/build career? It is essential to pinpoint where your passion lies. This means that it is ideal to recognize where you want your focus to be: commercial, residential, custom builder, spec builder, remodel, luxury, etc. Being specific allows you to learn to master your craft. As you gain experience, you will also build your confidence and then can branch out to other areas, if so desired. Ultimately passion and drive is what will dictate your success.
