From Passion Project to Purposeful Design: The Story Behind Madley Fine Cabinetry

Madley Fine Cabinetry was founded in 2017 by Michael Madley, a lifelong woodworker whose passion for design began with a simple act of love: a custom office remodel for his wife. What started as a personal project designed to reflect her style and daily needs quickly caught the attention of friends and visitors. Inquiries poured in, and before long, the honey-do had evolved into a thriving custom cabinetry studio known for its refined aesthetics, precision craftsmanship, and concierge-level service.

Elevating Everyday Living Through Craftsmanship

At the heart of Madley Fine Cabinetry is a philosophy that cabinetry should not only serve a function, but also transform a space. Michael and his team take a highly personalized approach, rooted in thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail. Every step, from the initial consultation to the final installation, is handled in-house by a dedicated team committed to excellence.

Clients work directly with the studio throughout the entire process, resulting in cabinetry that reflects their vision and enhances their lifestyle. The firm’s signature style emphasizes clean lines, warm finishes, and modern forms, resulting in timeless, tailored interiors.

Materials That Matter

Madley Fine Cabinetry works primarily with premium wood veneers, ultra-matte finishes, and textured panels—materials selected for their beauty, durability, and versatility. Hand-selected hardwoods are incorporated for both warmth and structural integrity, ensuring each project is as enduring as it is elegant.

A Process Built Around the Client

Each project begins with an in-depth consultation to explore the client’s lifestyle, preferences, and spatial needs. From there, the design team produces detailed 3D renderings and material boards, helping clients visualize the final product before fabrication begins.

“Once approved, cabinetry and millwork are then fabricated, followed by white-glove installation,” Madley said. “Throughout, we maintain open lines of communication.”

A dedicated project manager oversees every phase to ensure seamless communication, quality, and delivery. Most projects follow a 10- to 14-week timeline: design and approvals occur in the first two weeks, fabrication takes place over 6 to 8 weeks, and installation is completed in the final one to two weeks, with a transparent schedule provided at every step.

Madley notes a growing preference among homeowners for minimalist, European-inspired cabinetry. Features like push-to-open hardware, slab fronts in white oak or walnut, and integrated appliances are in high demand.

“Textured finishes, vertical grain alignment, and architectural metal details are in demand,” Madley said. “Clients are also requesting utility features like hidden trash and recycling drawers and drawer-within-a-drawer systems.”

Where Innovation Meets Function

The team excels at blending modern technology with timeless design. Whether it’s motorized concealed storage or app-controlled lighting, the goal is always to increase elegance without sacrificing efficiency. One standout project involved a custom Murphy bed wall unit that integrated a wardrobe, work-from-home station, and floating shelves with hidden LED lighting—all within a tight primary suite footprint.

Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability is deeply embedded in the studio’s practices. Madley Fine Cabinetry partners with vendors using FSC-certified wood and low-VOC finishes, sources materials locally when possible, and recycles all eligible packaging and debris. Their made-to-order model reduces waste, and clients are encouraged to select timeless designs that won’t require frequent updates, ensuring longevity both in style and structure.

Design That Tells a Story

Among the studio’s most meaningful projects is a custom-built bunkroom in a family retreat. Projects like this embody what Madley Fine Cabinetry is all about: blending design, craftsmanship, and purpose into spaces that tell personal stories.

“We created custom bunks with integrated storage drawers, built-in reading lights, and inset shelving for each sleeping nook. Every detail, from the millwork to the lighting, was designed to feel cozy, elevated, and perfectly tailored to the space,” Madley said. “It was a beautiful example of how thoughtful cabinetry can transform a room into something functional, inviting, and unforgettable.”

Michael Madley believes the future of cabinetry lies in architectural integration—design that serves as both function and expression. As demand for hybrid spaces, smart technology, and sustainable materials grows, the studio remains committed to pushing the boundaries of what custom cabinetry can be.

Madley Fine Cabinetry isn’t just about building cabinets—it’s about enhancing how people live in their spaces. Great cabinetry is an investment in daily life. Clients are encouraged to choose a design partner who understands spatial flow, craftsmanship, and functionality, because cabinetry, after all, should be as personal as the stories it holds.
