Drumroll please! Pantone has announced their 2016 color of the year. In a surprising twist, Pantone has selected two colors as their ‘color of the year’ for 2016. This year, rose quartz and serenity have taken the top honors.

At first glance, it may seem that these colors are best suited for baby showers, old family photos, furniture you would find at your grandmother’s house, but these are perfect for translating the colors into modern home decor.

The two soft tone colors, blushing pink with peach undertones, and a peaceful blue that borders slightly on periwinkle, give great inspiration for new color tones for a room makeover!

The colors were chosen to be combined together, so think of this as a whole new room. Starting off with new couches in rose quartz, the serenity can be incorporated with throw pillows, blankets and trinkets around the room. These colors are great for stand alone, but throw them together and you have a fresh, gender-neutral space that feels to-the-minute.

Another great thing about these soft colors is that they can easily be mixed and matched with many colors that can tone down the ‘baby shower’ vibes. Appealing in all finishes, matte, metallic and glossy, the color combo joins easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. For a bolder look, add in silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle.

If this years colors are anything like years past, you will have no problem finding ways and items to update your home. Stores like Ikea, H&M and most furniture stores will be sure to have something in the Pantone realm.

How will you incorporate these colors in your home revamp?
