Virtual Workshops for Aspiring Musicians and Theatre Buffs

From theatre production to jazz classes, these local companies are offering virtual classes and programs for creative minds.

Desert Stages Theatre is now offering weekly virtual, theatrical dance classes of favorite show tunes, pop songs and musical masterpieces. Taught by Erin Tarkington, Co-Director and Choreographer of the Desert Stages Theatre Youth Program, the classes cater to kids ages 6 to 13 who want to continue their theatre journey from home. Aspiring jazz musicians of all skill levels are welcome to sign up for The Nash‘s 2020 Summer Workshops. The program is comprised of all virtual workshops led by professional jazz musicians through online Zoom sessions. Most workshops are $150 and those interested can register here. The Nash is also continuing its Get Jazz Smart online classes which explore Bossa Nova, Modal Jazz and Fusion. Classes are $25 per household and held via Zoom and led by Jeff Libman, Clinical Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at ASU.

Childsplay Theatre Academy has announced its summer classes, which will include fun topics like Costume Creators, Pitched Perfect, Scenic Arts with Legos and more. Each class is taught by professional theatre artists and designed for kids ages 6 to 17. June’s classes will be held online with classes ranging from 40 min to half-day programs. Childsplay plans to resume in-person classes in July which will consist of full- and half-day programs. Click here to register.
