Sidney Samson Has Something to Say

Steve LeVine Entertainment & PR outdid themselves again bringing in the legendary Dutch DJ and Producer Sidney Samson to perform at Axis Radius in Old Town Scottsdale. Arizona Foothills Magazine took some time to talk with Sidney Samson about his notable career, the origins of Dirty Dutch, and what he has in store for us in 2013. Besides throwing down a massive set, Sidney Samson is one of the nicest and most successful guys in the Electronic Dance Music industry. With a career spanning 2 decades, Samson still feels fresh, energized, and excited to continue do what he loves to do, make music.

Samson spent time during 2012 in the studio with some of the biggest stars in music including Will.I.AM and Flo-Rida as well as some new talent out of The Netherlands named Martin Garrix, who he’s teamed up with to produce a brand new track called Torrent soon to be released on Tiesto’s Label Musical Freedom. Check out the preview of the unreleased track below:

One of the most important things Sidney had to say, was actually more of a clarification for EDM fans about the origin and sound of what has become known as ‘Dirty Dutch’ House music. He explained to us that ‘Dirty Dutch’ (distinguished usually by a hard four-to-the-floor beat and stabbing bleeping synth leads) is NOT a genre. Rather, Sidney says, “That’s just what Chuckie and I were playing in the clubs at the time back in Holland.” They had begun with hip-hop and started to develop and fine tune what is now know as ‘Dirty Dutch’ as they moved into house music; drawn to house by its ability to move the people on the floor. Nothing creates reactions or destroys dance floors quite like House Music. If you really want to break it down:  Two Dutch guys playing House music = Dutch House = Dirty Dutch. To quote the man himself:

“We Started this shit!”

Cocky? No, the truth. And Sidney Samson is the complete opposite of cocky, rather, kind and confident. Among his other successes of 2012 Sidney has watched his Podcast Sidney Samson-Rock The Houze Radio! take off and it continues to grow in popularity. The weekly show airs each Saturday on Sirius XM’s Electric Area (Ch.52)  right before Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy. If you don’t have Sirius XM, don’t worry, you can still listen to each episode of Rock The Houze Radio! on Sidney’s Soundcloud Page, and we’ve included the latest episode for your listening pleasure below:

We want to say thanks again to Steve LeVine Entertainment and PR for putting on such an awesome show and of course, Sidney Samson for taking the time to chat with us! Check back soon for more interviews!!

Also, a huge shout out to Phoenix Video Production company D-Mak Productions for shooting and editing the video!
