Jazz up your February with The Italian Saxophone Quartet, performing live at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The performance is presented by the Gold Canyon Arts Council as part of its Canyon Sounds Artist Series.
Hailing from Italy, the four virtuoso saxophonists jam out in perfect synchrony and harmony with their soprano, alto, tenor and baritone instruments. From Broadway and Latin to Pop and even Film scores, audiences are guaranteed to be treated to an eclectic mix of sounds.
As winners of multiple music competition and Italy’s First Prize, the “Premier Ancona,” the quartet has also taken the stage in some of the world’s most famous concert halls and played with international orchestras including the Milan Symphony Orchestra at the Teatro alla Scala.
“Don’t think you like saxophone quartets?…think again…a revelation…knocked us our from the very first notes!” wrote The Monterey Peninsula Herald and Italy’s Messaggero Veneto declared the performance as “seductive and impassioned, a scintillating whirlwind of a performance.”
The evening benefits the Gold Canyon Arts Council, a non-profit organization promoting the performing and visual arts and is supported in part by grants from the Arizona commission of the Arts, WESTAF, the National Endowment for the Arts, local corporations and businesses.
