Start making your holiday plans now because it’s almost that time of year again when we can pull out our (very) dusty ice skates and slide around Downtown Phoenix. On November 28, head out to CityScape Phoenix for the grand opening of CitySkate, the Valley’s largest real outdoor ice rink. The event will feature live music, holiday performances throughout the evening, a light show, snowfall, an appearance by Santa Claus and the official tree lighting ceremony hosted by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and his family. This year, close to 200,000 people are expected to brave the ice around the 36-foot holiday tree that towers above the rink and is adorned with thousands of twinkling lights. The tree will dazzle guests with nightly light shows at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. Bystanders watching over the rink from Patriots Park will enjoy a nightly snowfall during the same hours and Santa will make an appearance every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for photos from 4pm until 8pm.
