Pa’La Downtown has opened a new live music, art and food-driven space, The Lounge at Pa’La, bringing elevated vibes with global style to the downtown Phoenix restaurant. The new lounge features a live jazz band plus Japanese and Mediterranean-inspired wood-fired tapas and drinks that showcase the unique cooking style of Chef Jason Alford.
Designed by restaurant designer Weston Brodrick with live music in mind, The Lounge at Pa’La is a moody, softly lit space inspired by luxurious hotel lobbies and lounges of Europe and New York. Greys, beige, black and a splash of Pa’La blue set the tone of the space, while the seating areas are monochromatic with an unexpected display of mural art featuring red dueling octopuses on the ceiling and an octopus’s garden encompassing the center bar.
The lounge aims to be the perfect space to unwind, relax and escape for a while and offers a new live music-centered destination where guests can enjoy Pa’La Downtown’s unique menu that focuses on wood-fired dishes made with locally-sourced and specialty-imported ingredients.
Chef Jason Alford, best known as longstanding Chef de Cuisine and robata-grill maestro at Roka Akor, brings his expertise in open wood-fire grilling and the Japanese style of “fireside” cooking known as “robatayaki” to Pa’La. The menu changes daily and features a mix of global flavors, tapas, small bites and shareable plates, allowing guests to have a variety of flavor experiences in tune with the seasons.
The Lounge at Pa’La will also have a special “Board Menu” available for guests to share, along with an expanded menu of daily specials and handcrafted cocktails. The lounge’s beverage menu boasts a diverse wine list, speciality cocktails and local draft beer selected to highlight the menu or be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
“We invite our community to our new space designed with human connection in mind,” said Chef Jason Alford in a statement. “Experience food as a daily pursuit, a connection to ingredients and people as they were meant to be. Pa’La is the culmination of our efforts—a place where good food offers an experience for the community.”
