5 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

But in case you want to add a little something extra to your night of Irish revelry, then read on for five unique ways to get your partying on in the Valley. But first, go green and pour yourself a pint of Irish beer—you can never start too early.

1. Win a trip to Ireland

2. Mix it up the Irish way

Can’t decide between a night of liquor or beer? You won’t have to. If you’re looking for a festive cocktail that includes the best of the Irish spirits, visit any Culinary Dropout to gulp down the “Smashed Irishman,” a delicious mix of Jameson whiskey, Guinness reduction and mint. And if you fall in love with it like we know you will, the recipe is below for future drinking.


  • .75 oz. honey syrup
  • .5 oz. Guinness reduction (see below)
  • .75 oz. lemon juice
  • 1.5 oz. Jameson whiskey
  • 5  sprigs of mint (for garnish)

DirectionsAdd all ingredients into shaker with ice. Shake and double strain into buckets glass. Garnish with mint sprig.

Guinness reduction: Bring 24 oz of Guinness in a pan to a simmer over medium heat and let simmer until reduced by half, about 20 minutes.

4. Get your river dance on

No, this music festival is not filled with bag pipes and skirts. Head to Rawhide for the Pot of Gold Music Festival, an awesome two days of music from some of the biggest names in the industry today. The festival takes place Thursday, March 17 and Saturday, March 19 and will include artists like Ty Dolla Sign, Dirty Heads, Rae Sremmurd, Atmosphere, Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, 311 and more.
