6 On-Trend Pieces To Try

Trends, they are a natural part of the fashion process. And though many a fashionista insist they don’t follow trends, sometimes it’s just so much easier. I for one, love that I can walk into a store or boutique grab an item that’s “on trend” and mix it in with my own personal style to make my look unique yet relevant.

Some trends actually stand the test of time and find their place in your closet for years to come. This season, two such trends are military inspired pieces and my favorite, stripes!

At Nordstrom, $260

A military button-up is über stylish. You can wear on oversized button up like this Zadig &Voltaie over denim, leggings, a maxi or if you are bold enough paired with a sparkly skirt a la Nordstrom.

At Barneys New York $260

When I mentioned stripes perhaps the picture that entered your mind was varying horizontal lines on a boat neck top (we will probably get to that later on), but did you expect black and white vertical striped jeans? ACNE has created a statement pant, there is no doubt about it. Pair with your favorite solid colors to keep the look put-together.

At Net-A-Porter $1950

Military inspired pieces don’t always have to be androgynous; in fact they can be truly feminine. Jason Wu has proved that he understands what women want with this olive paneled, curve enhancing dress. Add some edgy accessories to complete the look…. Think spikes and studs.

At Alice & Olivia $198

Stripes don’t always come in black, white and/or blue nor are they always straight. For example, this top from Alice & Olivia takes the striped tee to a new level with its wavy lines and trendy emerald and burgundy. The silky silhouette is perfect for a pencil skirt… A true day to night look!

At Neiman Marcus $1695

Military and jacket go hand in hand just like coat and Burberry. So what do you get when you mix them together? The most fabulous, gorgeous, luxurious military coat you ever did see. I love the idea of pairing with leather legging and booties.

At Saks Fifth Avenue sweater $995; skirt $795

Marc Jacobs makes the striped sweater glamorous with silver sequins…. An easy way to make a casual outfit look stylish. If you want to stay warm and cozy but need to be a bit dressier get the matching skirt for a dazzling look.
