What to Wear to a Playoff Game

I would venture to say that like me most of our city was clapping, cheering and yelling at their TV sets yesterday during the Suns game. And how happy are we that the boys in orange pulled out all the stops to win the game?? Happy may be an understatement. I will say that for all the beating that Steve Nash has taken…no one deserves a trophy more than he does…. Let’s just cross our fingers that there are no more face injuries, or for that matter any injuries to our hometown boys!!

A while back the hubby and I were lucky enough to sit courtside for one of the games and of course one of the news channels came up and interviewed him in the midst of the game. I can only say that I was more than happy that I did my makeup and hair that night! And I took the time to wear something sideline appropriate.

So if you are lucky enough to attend the next Playoff game what exactly does one wear?

Well if you are taking your cues from the celebs that sit on the sidelines (at Lakers games of course) the most common and best suited outfits are those that involve denim… jeans of every shades, blue, black and gray are a good bet (I would caution against white…you never know what might other fans might spill on you,,been there done that). Forget about dresses or skirts….there is nothing worse than being packed into those stadium style seats and trying to retain your lady-ness for three hours.

Comfy layered shirts like the ones that Jessica Biel was sporting or a tee and jacket like Beyonce are always a great bet because for some reason the air seems to be cranked on high at every game.

Of course the one way to dress up your look a la Hillary Duff or Bar Rafeal is heels. I know it sounds crazy but if you have a comfy pair and you might be spotted on camera, a cute heel, or wedge will look like a million without saying that you are trying too hard.

Normally I am not one to go the ripped jeans route, but I think they are appropo for a game. I love these J Brand Krys in Dark Shredder or if you want to go traditional these skinny Phoebe jeans are perfection.

For the tee and sweater route, this Marc Jacobs Ulrika sweater is summery and looks darling with denim. Pile on a few chain necklaces and you will look smashing!

Even though I advocate heels, a Playoff game is not the time to drag out your super feminine spiky stiletto’s unless of course your are being escorted by your bodyguards to the front row, instead try a wedge like these Elizabeth and James ones or these Franco Sarto wooden pair from Piperlime.com
