First Look- To Do or Not to Do

To some it feels like cheating. How can you see your bride or groom before the ceremony? Will it take away from that special moment of seeing each other for the first time on the aisle?

Coming from a Wedding Planner and a former bride I can understand both perspectives. I didn’t see my husband before our ceremony but now I understand the importance of that moment and how it allows so much time for amazing pictures for the rest of your day!

A “First Look” allows alone time with you and you’re soon to be husband. A private moment you can cherish together, rather than with a room full of people. The bride and groom can smile, hug, and kiss as much as needed before heading off to entertain their guests for the rest of their day.

Now, as a wedding planner I definitely recommend having a ‘first look’ with your groom. Your wedding day can be over in a blink of an eye and you want to be able to appreciate the process and remember the way you felt when you looked at the man of your dreams and have lots of photos to document it for years to come.

Another reason to consider a First Look is because of the amazing photographs that your photographer will be able to capture. During the ceremony the photographer is able to capture only so many photos of the bride and groom but during a “First Look” your photographer will capture many amazing photographs full of true love and emotion. First look photographs are absolutely timeless and I promise you will relish in these once-in-a-lifetime photos forever.

“First Look” photographs are very intimate and you truly get to see how the bride and groom interact with one another. While many couples choose to keep to tradition, the First Look is an amazing moment that will last through time. The most memorable part of your wedding day is that moment when you see your groom for the first time and he looks at you with so much love and happiness in his eyes, and that moment is worth capturing.
