Title: Fashion Designer of Pretty Lady Apparel

Married/Single: I refer to myself as being married (in a happy long term relationship)

Kids: I have two nephews and one niece who I love like my own children. I am currently raising them and I’ve basically been raising them ever since they were born.

City you live in: Tucson, Arizona

A typical day in my life includes…

after waking up with a coffee and a shower, I take the kids to school and hit the studio. I sew for about six hours before having to get the little ones, after that its homework and dinner time, then ending the evening with some quality family time. Some days though I end the night in my sewing room when its crunch time and deadlines have to be done.

I was born…

September 4th, 1991 in Tucson Arizona.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the amazing sunsets! It’s horrible that the sunsets are made from all the dirt and dust in the air, but they’re gorgeous.

I’m listening to…

country music! Can never get enough 99.5.

My family…

I feel so blessed to have such a perfect family. In my family we are all about businesses. My dad owns four diesel truck repair shops and partners with my husband who also has his own diesel transport service. They both are entrepreneurs and not only have their one business but are developing a handful of businesses. My wonderful husband is very supportive of my business. He travels with me to all my fashion events and invests in my company so I am able to grow at a fast pace. I am grateful to be able to have a studio that I work out of in our home so I can take care of my household and kids. I am also very grateful to be able to raise my niece and nephews. My oldest nephew is 10 years old. He is too smart for his own good. He is in a gifted program at school and has a brain like a genius, but his preteen attitude gets the best of him sometimes. My youngest nephew is 9 years old. He is going to be an architect or scientist one day. He loves taking stuff apart and building it back together and he is also fascinated with rocks and minerals. My niece is 6 years old going on 16. She is a diva, always painting her nails and playing with makeup. I swear she is growing up to fast for her own good.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

I’d sure love to have a few choice words with Miley Cyrus and try to understand why anyone would encourage a young audience into dressing so vulgar and acting juvenile. But I’d much rather use such a good wish to sit down with Barbara and Lori from Shark Tank to have a one on one about launching my business and setting the ground stones for a prosperous career.

One thing I cannot live without…

I cannot live without family because at the end of the day the one thing that really matters is your loved ones and not any amount of money or success would be worth having without them.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a Disney princess, I’m still crossing my fingers!

I’m inspired by…

lots of things: fabrics, architecture, landscapes, color, characteristics/attitudes, people, places, plants/flowers, activities and earlier time periods.

The one person who motivates me is…

my family is my biggest motivator. I am a perfectionist. I always have to try my best giving 110% because I don’t want to fail and I don’t want them to see me fail. I strive to be someone great and to make a difference in this world.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

to take away all the pain and suffering of the innocent.

The perfect day would be…

a day full of poise, fun, laughter, excitement and fulfillment.

My first job was…

when I was 17 years old I was working at Dairy Queen out in Vail. Horrible job, I think I gained like 15 pounds in 6 months because all of the ice-cream was just so tempting. The one thing that I did learn was good customer service, which is really important in my career field.

My favorite escape…

would be going on a shopping spree, which helps relieve my stress. I call it my shopping therapy. Also, a fruity martini or a big margarita would do the trick.

My life…

is developing on the right track like I pictured, as long as my business keeps growing and making sales, then I have to say I’m having a great start at life and hope it keeps progressing from here.

I’m currently working on…

my new spring Poise Collection that I will be showing at Tucson Fashion Week this year. This collection was inspired by every woman’s fantasy of having a perfect spring-filled day. Weather that day consists of relaxing on the beach, taking a stroll in the park, going on a shopping spree, having an exciting brunch with girlfriends, or finally building up the confidence to talk to that perfect guy. This day will be full of poise, fun, laughter, excitement, and fulfillment. Pretty Lady Apparel is all about giving women a chance to make positive choices through clothing and this collection offers graceful and elegant bearing in not only one person but in every person.

Always…

stay true to yourself, work hard, thrive on succeeding and be remembered.

Never…

give up, take no for an answer, stop believing and never lose yourself or your passion.

Favorite Quote…

“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”

– Audrey Hepburn

Biggest Dream…

Is to live the American Dream; to be an entrepreneur and live in a big house and retire early with my husband. Have a successful business as a ready to wear designer. Have my own retail store and become worldwide. Expand into having a children’s clothing line and designing accessories and handbags. My dream is to have my brand remembered and make a difference. Pretty Lady Apparel is all about giving young women and teens a chance to make positive choices through clothing. In today’s society we lack the elegance, the properness, the “lady like” appearance that I’m trying to bring back into the fashion world. It’s sad, it’s like you’re not fashionable unless you’re revealing a lot of skin or wearing skin tight clothing. Fashion should not be this way. My dream is to change that misconception and bring back the poise and class we are missing.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

I am an organized clean freak and it gets on my nerves if there is clutter or dirtiness. I also get so annoyed with how teens dress these days, I just want to re-style them in the right proper clothing and show them how beautiful and confident they can be if they would just stop dressing half naked and stop wearing skin tight clothes . I blame it on the media these days with people like Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé that teens look up too.

Christina Cornwell will be showing her collection during the Premiere Runway Event on October 16th at Tucson Fashion Week. Before she became a designer she realized she had a connection with fashion. She would find herself observing the way people dressed and would ask herself why they dressed in that particular way. Christina would also find herself deconstructing clothes to discover how each garment worked. It was then when it hit her that she had a love for more than just clothing she had a love for fashion and design. As a designer, Christina wants to reach out to young women and show them that being pretty is not just about their bodies, but rather about how they present themselves. Christina believes that in today’s society girls seem to confuse sexy with pretty and she wishes to help correct that misconception through her designs. Pretty Lady Apparel is all about making young women redefine pretty, as well as feel pretty, and be pretty. Christina graduated from the Art Institute of Tucson with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design.
