Black Theatre Troupe

Founded in 1970 by longtime civil rights activist Helen Katherine Mason, the Black Theatre Troupe provides training and performance opportunities for multiethnic artists with the mission to educate, enlighten and entertain a diverse audience. Tickets for the 2022/23 season are on sale now.

Grassrootz Bookstore and Juice Bar

Ali Nervis and Tremikus Muhammad opened Grassrootz Books and Juice Bar in 2019. Filled with shelves of books by Black authors, each purchase from Grassrootz helps to fund grassroots activism, education and economic development efforts in Phoenix, AZ.

Mrs. White’s Golden Rule Cafe

SugarJam also recently expanded to include a brand new gift shop and ice cream trailer.
