Starting tomorrow, you can fetch Elizabeth Taylor’s first wedding gown at auction – but you’ll need at least $47,000 to start.
Christie’s auction house will auction off the seed pearl-encrusted satin dress that was designed by costume designer Helen Rose, replete with a waist-cinching built-in corset that perfectly fit Taylor’s infamously tiny 20-inch waist.
Taylor wore this dress on her first wedding when she was just 18 years old to hotel heir Conrad “Nicky” Hilton Jr. (yes, that’s Paris Hilton’s great uncle), in May 1950.
However, just 8 months later, the pair divorced and Taylor went on to marry seven more times (Michael Wilding, Mike Todd, Eddie Fisher, Ruchard Burton — twice — John Warner and Larry Fortensky).
In 2011, Taylor died at age 79.
The beautiful dress that Taylor originally bought for $1,500 will be sold at an estimated price of $47,000 to $78,000.
