Hat ladies 2

Looking for the perfect place to kickback and enjoy “the most exciting two minutes in sports?”  This May, the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess’s Bourbon Steak is hosting a Kentucky Derby brunch and lawn party with all the fun Southern style traditions of the Kentucky Derby.

On Saturday, May 3, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., you can attend this Kentucky Derby soiree for a reasonable price of $79. Guests will view the beautiful Kentucky Derby silk horses on large plasma screens while enjoying the delectable brunch menu from Executive Chef Chris Curtis.

This exclusive brunch menu will include lip-smacking selections such as buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches, truffled mac n’ cheese and Carolina shrimp and grits.  The meal is topped off with fine selections of dessert, including chocolate bourbon pecan pies and red velvet cupcakes.

Seersucker and hats

Race-watchers will receive a Kentucky Derby keepsake glass and complimentary mint julep.  Guests also have the chance to order one of the select Kentucky Derby cocktails, including the “Seersucker,” a cocktail made with bourbon, peach and mint, “The Derby,” made with bourbon, sweet vermouth, orange curacao and lime, and the “Kentucky Cousin,” made with Knob Creek bourbon Cherry Heering, lemon and black tea, as well as the other the numerous cocktails available.

Women in attendance are encouraged to get in Kentucky Derby spirit by sporting their most stylish hats, with men donning their best seersucker.  Both women and men will be given the chance to win a selection of fun prizes from an esteemed panel of judges.  Among the prizes will be a beautiful Derby hat, dinner for two in Bourbon Steak and a weekend getaway to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, along with trunk show items from specialty fashion retailers.
