Bitter & Twisted Phoenix is One of the Best Bars in N. America

Each year, North America’s 50 Best Bars celebrates the best of the continent’s drink industry. The annual list provides a ranking of the best bar experiences in the region according to the votes of 220 drink experts from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Caribbean. 

Bitter & Twisted, located at 1 W. Jefferson St., placed at No. 44 as the only bar on the 2022 North America’s 50 Best Bars list to represent Arizona. 

Housed inside the former Arizona Prohibition Headquarters at the historic Luhrs Building in downtown Phoenix, Bitter & Twisted is both stylish and hip with large-banquet filled rooms and high ceilings. Its friendly staff, innovative eatery menu and globally=recognized cocktail program have earned multiple awards that keep customers coming back for more.

Ross Simon, Bitter & Twisted’s publican who opened the pub in 2014, has three decades of experience in the drink industry. As co-founder of Arizona Cocktail Weekend, his passion for cocktails is on full display. 

Multi-layer flavors, five varieties of nano-filtered ice and intricate preparations together make up the bar’s famous complex drinks. Simon’s signature Lemongrass Collins, which includes vodka, lemongrass, vanilla, lemon juice and ginger beer, is a favorite among regulars, while Bitter & Twisted’s 25-page menu offers a wide collection of new and classic drinks to meet everyone’s fancy. 

At Bitter & Twisted, each cocktail is expertly made using only premium spirits, the freshest of fruits, herbs and the tastiest of bitters and tonics. For those who prefer simpler sips, Bitter & Twisted also offers a variety of spirits, craft beers and wines.

Gemini Pizza runs the kitchen at Bitter & Twisted, providing a menu of classic New York-style pizza and elevated bar food, such as fried chicken wings, and popcorn seasoned with butter, garlic, furikake and togarashi.

Happy Hour at Bitter & Twisted is Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Enjoy $2 off all pizzas and $1 off well spirits and domestic beer, along with the Market Collins, Margarita, and Mojito for $10, the Thrifty Cocktail for $9 and Prosecco for $8.
