In this Grocery Greats segment, ForXx is seeking out the most tender microwaveable chicken wings.
Summer is not the season for slaving over a hot stove, so I looked for the best microwave wings on the market. Oh my, oh my, what wings to buy?
Tyson Any’tizers Buffalo Style Hot Wings. There is so much sauce on these you’ll hardly notice that there’s little meat content. They have more fat than meat, tempting you to eat more. Three wings are 190 calories and they claim to be good on the grill. On the grill, they stuck to the cooking surface. $6.89.
Foster Farms Honey BBQ Glaze. Filling and satisfying, three wings are 170 calories. Heat from frozen or thawed. Eight wings can be microwaved in five minutes. Sweet and tangy, these meaty wings are coated in a perfectly balanced honey-barbecue sauce. Just heat and serve. $4.80 for a 28-oz. bag.
T.G.I. Friday’s Buffalo Chicken Wings. More chain restaurants are placing their foods in the grocery store for the consumer’s convenience. I wanted to see if I could get the same restaurant flavor from my microwave. Coated in a spicy sauce, three wings are 170 calories. After microwaving for three minutes, the wings were tangy, tough and dry. $3.87 for a 10-oz. box.
This week’s Grocery Great: Foster Farms Honey BBQ Glaze. Excellent flavor, tender, meaty and not overwhelmed with sauce.
