Din Tai Fung Is Opening in Scottsdale in March

A globally celebrated restaurant brand known for its dumplings and hospitality is officially making its Arizona debut this spring. Din Tai Fung, the family-owned concept from Taiwan that has earned a devoted following around the world, is opening its first Arizona location at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The highly anticipated restaurant will begin welcoming guests with a soft opening starting March 12, operating as reservation-only while serving its full menu. The official grand opening celebration is scheduled for April 20. Guests can already begin making reservations online, while additional services will roll out in phases throughout the spring. Takeout orders will begin March 16, delivery service launches March 30, and walk-in dining, along with phone-in takeout orders, will be available starting April 6.

The new restaurant will span approximately 10,000 square feet and seat 340 guests, offering a space that blends Taiwanese heritage with modern comfort. Inside, warm gold, cream, and wood tones combine with stone, glass, and metal finishes to create an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.

An intimate bar area features a coved wood ceiling, lantern-inspired pendant lights, a mirrored back bar, and amber tile that subtly nods to the surrounding desert landscape. In the main dining room, a sculptural tree installation serves as a centerpiece, symbolizing growth and connection while helping define cozy seating areas throughout the space.

While the restaurant’s design aims to impress, it’s the food that has made Din Tai Fung a global sensation. Since rising to fame in the 1970s, the brand has become synonymous with its Xiao Long Bao, delicate soup dumplings known for their precise craftsmanship. Each dumpling is prepared using an intricate process that follows an 18-fold technique and a precise 21-gram standard, often referred to as the brand’s “Golden Ratio.”

In addition to its famous soup dumplings, the Scottsdale menu will feature popular dishes include Cucumber Salad, Spicy Wontons, String Beans with Garlic, and the playful Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. Guests can also sip on specialty cocktails such as the hand-shaken Pear Lychee Martini. The Scottsdale location will also introduce a brand-new dish: Steak Fried Noodles. The item will debut at the Arizona opening before rolling out to Din Tai Fung restaurants nationwide later this year.

With more than 165 locations worldwide and this opening marking its 20th restaurant in North America, Din Tai Fung’s arrival signals another major addition to Scottsdale’s thriving dining scene. And the brand’s Arizona expansion isn’t stopping here – plans are already underway for a second Valley location at Chandler Fashion Center, expected to open next year. Learn more at dtf.com.
