Clinton Lomayma has taken over for Peter McQuaid as Executive Chef of Cala Scottsdale. This Mediterranean inspired restaurant launched two years ago with the help of Lomayma, celebrity chef Beau MacMillan, and McQuaid. The kitchen leadership shift follows Lomayma’s culinary arts experience and passion for quality.
“We are very excited and proud to announce the promotion of Clinton as Cala’s executive chef. He opened the restaurant with me, and we have spent the last seven years working together. I have the utmost confidence in his abilities to lead Cala’s kitchen,” MacMillan – the director of culinary operations and partner for Clive Collective – said. “I’m looking forward to the work he’ll do and can’t wait to see him flex his culinary skills.”
Clive Collective is a hospitality and real estate ownership and management company that strives to raise the standards of hospitality throughout the industry. Lomayma has been with Clive since the opening of Cala in 2022. Guided by MacMillan and Clive Collective, Lomayma will follow in McQuaid’s footsteps as he transitions to The Americano and his sister venue, Tell Your Friends.
“I am honored for my new role as Executive Chef for Cala. My gratitude for Chef Beau is immeasurable, and I am thrilled to continue working alongside him and the rest of the incredible staff,” Lomayma said. “I look forward to bringing my passion and creativity to Cala’s kitchen to craft a dining experience that celebrates local flavors and exemplifies the finest quality the guests can expect.”
Cala provides a modern take on flavors from Greece, Spain, Italy, Morocco, and across the Mediterranean coastline. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a specialty cocktail menu that includes signature bottles of wine, specialty cocktails, and mocktails.
Tucked inside the Senna House Hotel Scottsdale, Cala offers a fresh coastal atmosphere and dishes like Peruvian scallop crudo, bucatini wagyu Bolognese, tamarind braised lamb shank and a variety of pizzas and sides.
As Lomayma takes over at the head of the kitchen, he plans to continue the legacy of mentoring younger chefs, much like MacMillan did for him. Lomayma will also continue the elevated menu while adding exciting seasonal options. For more information, visit calascottsdale.com.
