A new Northeastern Chinese-inspired barbeque spot is coming to Mesa at the end of May, bringing bold flavors, a vibrant atmosphere, and Dongbei BBQ culture to the Valley. With over 100 locations, Chubby Skewers brings that same energy and authenticity to Arizona in a modern, nightlife-friendly setting.
This is the latest concept from Chubby Group, which also operates dining brands such as The X Pot, Chubby Cattle, Niku X, and Mikiya. The new location will add to the company’s footprint across the U.S., including restaurants in California, Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, and New York.
“We’re here to bring people together through bold flavors and a shared love of barbecue,” Co-Founder David Zhao said. “At Chubby Skewers, we celebrate good food, good company, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer.”
Guests will explore a semi-self-service skewer bar, building their feast from freshly made items, including the signature wagyu. Skewers are $1 each for Chubby Club members ($1.20 for non-members). Everything is made fresh daily, upholding Chubby Group’s commitment to ingredient quality and bold flavor.
The menu features Japanese A5 wagyu, Masami American wagyu, and Australian wagyu, chicken wings, duck tongue, seafood, and seasonal vegetables; Hot Dishes like mala tang, sizzling tofu and enoki mushrooms, and fried instant noodles; and cold dishes like spicy noodles, beef shank, and salads.
Chubby Skewers is a fully immersive experience with retro street aesthetics, with bold reds and yellows inspired by classic Dongbei BBQ stalls. For more information, visit chubbyskewers.com.
